ABC's new show: Women's Murder Club
« on: October 07, 2007, 10:20:26 AM »
If you like to read James Patterson's books (I do), you might want to check out ABC's new series that will premier October 13th (next Saturday).  This one is based on his Women's murder club series.  I've been listening to the the series on audio download for weeks and would think they could really be interesting as a tv series...if they stick to JP's concept.

That's the problem with most movies and TV series created from a book.  I've been disappointed more than pleased over the years with screen adaptations of great books.

Disappointed.   :(

Yes they have the main characters. But different...medical examiner is written as HEFTY but happily married and content with her size.  In the TV version the HEFTY one is maybe a size 10.
The story line is drastically changed, much of the suspense and drama taken away.
Sadly, for a crime drama, it is fluff.  Would rather watch CSI or Law and Order...
Will look at next week's offering to see if it improves.

And will certainly continue to buy the James Patterson BOOKS!

Part of the reason I like the book series is the fact that they have several ages, sizes, and colors for the women. Yet they are all drawn together to solve murders (DA, Cop, ME and reporter).
TV show makes it look like 3 are same age (basically) and one is slightly younger.

They did keep the 4 main women, and Jacoby is still in the show.  In the first book Jacoby is not the cop's partner anymore, she got a new one and at the end of the book that partner died.  She was promoted to LT after the first book so her relationship with Jacoby is different than partners.  In the TV show, the cops ex-husband is her LT and Jacoby is still her partner.  Changes dynamic....   Oh well... Hope he got lots of money for it. And hope he continues to write the books... :)

Will have to look at the TV show on its own merits this week instead of comparing to the books. Maybe then I will like it..

I do not consider size 10 to be hefty.

nope.  Which network?

I really liked the short BURN NOTICE on USA Network this summer.  Was lightweight fun.
Kinda like MIAMI VICE at the beginning.  :D

It's on the Hallmark Channel, Direct TV #312, I think #185 on Dish.

Part of the Hallmark Channel Mystery Movie series.  It is on Monday evenings at 9 eastern.  I saw an ad for a Mystery Woman marathon next Saturday.

Is mystery woman the show about the woman who owns a mystery book store? Sorry if this seems a silly question _ I see glimses of things and occasionally a show here or there without ever knowing the name of it.  :-[
