Title: Comments (Guest Book?)
Post by: hidden on July 05, 2007, 08:06:10 PM
Something like how blogs have comments available, I like to place a similar feature on my site. Perhaps a guest book? Got any free (safe) favorites? Also, does anybody know if such a feature opens your site up (or guests) to loads of spam? How does one add a security code type feature you see, commentors physically entering letters and numbers ? -- Thanks in advance. -- Sharon Anne

There is a guestbook that is free and you can set it to moderate mode so you can approve the posts before they are made public.
Lazarus Guestbook (http://www.carbonize.co.uk/Lazarus/) and there is a forum if you need help.

SOME freebie guestbook codes leave your site vulnerable to spamming in 3 ways: 1) using your submit form to send spam. 2) gather email addys of the posters 3) posting ads/URL's for their website.

The one Turtle mentioned has a good reputation when you take the extra step of checking the post before it goes to the site with approval (to limit #3).
