Translators - Dictionaries
« on: December 04, 2008, 08:55:15 AM »
For years I have used several translators.
Some have very strange results like:   It be very goodly to meeting you!
Best results with very short clean sentences.

Sometimes you just need a single word or two.  So a dictionary is your better option.
I found a free cool translator, dictionary and conjugation service with a very good interface:   http://dictionary.reverso.net/

If you want to quickly translate your webpage for your visitors, add a simple GADGET to your website that will do it for you.  Not perfect but definitely very useful!

Google offers a simple gadget that produces a line of code that can be placed on your website.
Just choose the language of your website.  Then copy the code and paste it into your webpages. It creates a little box that allows your visitor to choose which language and the whole page translates in one quick sweep.

This is the way it looks.  Click it to go to the page to get the gadget!

Simply define the language that your site is written in and copy the code Google provides.
Place that code into a INSERT HTML box (Trellix webgem) and publish.

Thanks Sami,

I think this is very useful for our company and will find space for it on the home page.

It is not perfect, and struggles on technical pages, but can be very helpful.
If the page is written for easy translation, you have better results.
Simpler shorter sentences work best.
I have used this feature on a couple sites and it made a WORLD of difference to foreign visitors.
Glad to share it.  Hope it works well for you too.

It is up and running. I know they are not perfect, but this one is good enough.

ANOTHER translator:   Get SEVERAL language results for dictionary words with one query.

(Must be a good one if the logo is a Turtle!)
