Thank you Sami.
At the time you wrote your post the cloning was already done. Tests had told me that the old disc has a bad sector, so I decided to go further. I cleaned it the best I could before cloning. It went through  without any problem. After that, I took the old C:, ran DBAN on it to remove all data and at last I did a Low Format to use it as a second disc for backup purposes.
It took the whole day to do this two things, but everything ran OK, now the second disc is recognized by the BIOS but not by the OS.
I think there is something else I must do to let the OS “see” this second unit.  ???
Both discs are SATA, so there is no problem with master and slave jumpers…

Startup slowness still present    :(

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Update:
E:\ drive already working.
Backup of C: done.

I think if you do it my way, you will find you no longer need many of the programs and other stuff you currently have on your PC. It will run faster and more smoothly than before, and without all the malware etc which accumulates. It is the closest thing to a new PC.

Usually I only reinstall the frequently used programs, and then add others only when and if a need arises.

Thank you Rick, I try to keep as clean/empty my PC as possible, as well as out of malware, junkware, etc. but you know that, when you work online, this is a endless war.
Consider that I'm using only 100GB out of 500 available on disc, and yes, even though I admit to have some programs installed that I never use or just used once…
I will accept your advice to get rid of them.

There's a big difference between
  - not installing software (as Rick mentioned) until needed, and
  -  uninstalling software.
Uninstalling leaves traces, pieces of itself behind. Registry entries stay behind.  Installing fresh and bringing machine UP ensures that the registry is cleaner, with less start up problems.

At this point I've little to do.
All I can do is use IObit Uninstaller, which makes a deep scan (at request) after run uninstall to take off all traces left by programs.

Rick also said that he installs some programs when needed to take them off when finished. So he is also leaving traces and pieces behind...  :-\

Guys, I think you will agree with me that today to keep a PC completly CLEAN is VERY dificult, to not say IMPOSSIBLE.   :(

heads

Tony, just to clarify: I did not intend to imply that I remove programs when finished. I rarely do that.

What I mean is: when doing a clean re-install of the operating system, I only install those programs which I use frequently. I have bought heaps of software which I rarely use these days, so I only install those when the time comes that I have a specific need for it. But I usually don't uninstall it afterwards.

PS. If you thought I was going to post "tails" instead of "heads", you lost!  :hapscream:

cyclone

We never have hurricanes here, but we have cyclones! What about typhoones (from the Chinese "tai feng" - strong wind)?

From the US National Ocean Service:

Hurricanes, cyclones, and typhoons are all the same weather phenomenon; we just use different names for these storms in different places. In the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific, the term “hurricane” is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a “typhoon” and “cyclones” occur in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean.

The ingredients for these storms include a pre-existing weather disturbance, warm tropical oceans, moisture, and relatively light winds. If the right conditions persist long enough, they can combine to produce the violent winds, incredible waves, torrential rains, and floods we associate with this phenomenon.

The Shadow

The Shadow was a crime-fighting vigilante character in serialised dramas from the 1930's era. I have many of The Shadow radio serials from that time. He had the ability to make himself appear invisible by manipulating the minds of people, so that he could move around unseen to apprehend criminals.

I love the OTR recordings of the Shadow.  Have all available episodes on my OTR external drive. My favorites have Orson Wells wonderful voice.   :D

Only the Shadow knows......

I have The Saint (with Vincent Price) episodes on my mp3 right now.

My neighbor across the street knows EVERYTHING about everyone in town at any time.
He is a retired old man who spends his days walking on his sidewalk forward and back, trying to make conversation with anyone who crosses his way.

Gomer Pyle

Jim Nabors starred as the popular character Gomer Pyle in the 1960's and 70's.

OTR = Old Time Radio

Sami, I don't have The Saint. Could you let me know where I can download the episodes?

Variety

Jim Nabors often appeared on the Carol Burnett Show, considered to be a classic "Variety Show".

Rick, I gathered my files from several sites, and sadly, many are no longer online.
I will check which still exist.
So glad I downloaded a bunch when I did.

I could UPLOAD mp3 or zipped files to a folder for you on Samisite or AWW space.  I think I have the external drive here.... I really enjoy Vincent Price pieces, his voice is quite entertaining.

One of my FAVORITE sites is still online!
OTRR (Researcher group) tracks down and certifies the programs.
They have a 10GB per MONTH limit that is strictly enforced. Check the certified series here:
http://www.otrr.org/releases/links_current_by_title.php

the SAINT is missing many episodes so it isn't on that list.
OTRR provides individual MP3 file links here:  http://otrrlibrary.org/s.html

"The OTRR Library has more than 85,000 individual episodes from nearly 2,000 series for you to download. The OTRR Library is updated on a regular basis, with new series, new episodes, or better encodes. "

Another site I liked alot is gone, but they became a community where people discuss OTR, old movies, old tv programs, actors, etc.  Used to be open to any, now by invitation only.  Would you like an invitation?  I became a member in 2010.    The site is TIMES PAST http://timespast.ning.com/

A favorite site I used to visit has gone on and offline a few times.  They have taken content down, then back up.  One PAID site was trying to force them to fold, saying they were interferring with the PAID OTR service by offering the files for free.  The free site said that the PAID site had not legal right to lock out hundreds of radio shows from listeners and require a subscription since the shows were not copyrighted, or "owned" by the PAID site.  Unfortunately the PAID site had more MONEY to fight the battle.   :verysad: :'( :(

The Variety Bash is a popular, crazy outback motoring event in Australia, that raises money for charity.

Sami, I would really appreciate if you could upload The Saint files for me. Thanks! If you like, I can set up a folder in my Dropbox that you can upload to.

I sent you a PM, to see if my PM works now, and also about The Saint.
