A famous and enduring Australian poem/folk song "Click go the shears". The tune is an adaptation of the American Civil War song "Ring the Bell, Watchman" by Henry Clay Work.

trap

Dic.com looks the same to me  ???

I got a new computer a couple of weeks ago. It is a Toshiba 13" Kira Ultrabook. Intel core i5 processor, 8Gb of RAM, and 250Gb SSD, Windows 8.1 64 bit. It only weighs around 1Kg, and is very nice indeed. I love it!

I took your advice Sami, and did not get a touch screen. I am happy with that decision.

BTW Sami, Printkey 2000 works perfectly!

speed

Local police often set SPEED traps to make money from people passing through town. Local people know to slow down in the area, but visitors don't. So they get a ticket.

CONGRATS!! That sounds like a terrific machine.  NICE specs!!! And with you traveling, the weight must be wonderful.  I'm glad you are enjoying your new baby. Win 8.1 is so much better than 8, very useable.  :flowers: :bdballoon: :flowers: :bdballoon: :flowers:  Doubt you will ever miss the touch screen.

I bought a new phone yesterday. Had to do it. The antique I was using has been limping for about a year and a half. Its final strange trick:   Notify of incoming call...show number...show name... And NO WAY to answer the call! (or to reject).   :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I sat helplessly as my phone rang and I could do nothing about it.

I decided to reach as far as I could and get the new Samsung S5 (android) phone, with a two year contract so my cost drops down. Haven't been in a contract since 2009, but no other choice... Today I ran all day on a single charge, used the GPS with Google Maps and Navigation for HOURS and still had enough battery to download updates!  While driving with GPS & Maps on, I got incoming call and the phone did not lock up.  What a pleasure!!! I use GPS/Maps constantly these days to get to clients homes. Google allows me to STAR my locations so the map looks like it is a star chart!  I considered an iphone.  I LOVE iphones. But it came down to BATTERY time and RAM.  Samsung won this time.  So this weekend I will be setting it up the way I want, testing new apps, and "moving into" my new best buddy...

kills

I don't have any problem with speed traps. People can't complain about getting a ticket if they were speeding and breaking the law!

Have fun with your new phone Sami. I don't know how we could live without smartphones these days - rely on it so much. I have stuck with iPhone simply because I have so many apps, got used to the way it works, and I think it is a very good product.

Dazed

 :ss-shocked:

Tony I got the new samsung galaxy S5.
Could never afford this thing if the phone company required complete purchase!
I pay 33% of phone cost when I sign a contract requiring me to stay with that carrier for 2 years.

2.5GHz quad-core CPU,
2GB of RAM,
a 2800mAh (removable/replaceable) battery,
16 GB of memory on board
(with up to 128GB extra through microSD not included),
one of the world's most vibrant screens 5.1-inches
Newest samsung
Newest most secure android operating system (kitkat)
I am getting 10+ hours of active phone/gps time with very active use.
They say longer than that..and a couple days on standby.
Can talk on phone and go on web or gps mapping/navigation
Not biggest screen, but is much larger than I had before

Rick, I am a BIG fan of iphones, ipad, imac.  Think they are well designed and easy to.use, reset, reload, backup.  This time, the battery was my biggest issue. So iphone couldnt compete.  I was holding out hoping that 6 would be better, but my old p hi one just couldnt hang in anymore...

I had a chance to pop-in and am delighted to see all your contributions. Well done and keep it up!  :clapping:

Some friends use S4's and S5's and they seem to be quite happy. I've had Samsung's in the past, but before smartphones, and, they were all excellent products.

Hi E!  nice to see you.
Ive owned two previous Samsung phones. An old flip style with basic gps/data and my last smartphone. Held up well for a long time.  My first smart phone HTC wasnt very smart compared to todays models.

My ipad is attached to me in the home and on client calls.  And my cell phone is my lifes blood..  how did  I function before these two inventions?   Lol

Actually I got my post wrong: it should have been Judi Stench (that's Judi with an "i", not a "y").

She is one of the two stars in a very funny British TV comedy series: As Time Goes By

My blueberries are gone with the cat.  He just got in my bowl and stole two partially frozen blueberries. (I snack on them this time of the year...crunchy and sweet)

I couldn't watch that video, but found info in BBC here.

I got my phone because of battery life.
I have 2 power save modes on this phone.... One makes the phone black and white. Use it constantly. Reminds me of my televisions.    rofl

I doubt iphone has that setting. We have different kinds of display screens.  Built differently.

The black/white feature is perfect for Android AMOLED display on the Samsung phones.  Phone uses far less energy to display BLACK pixels than any other type of display.
Quote
Because when the background is black, those pixels are turn off to make the black color and it consume less power(similar to Moto X "Active Display" feature).

So setting on Black/White is a real battery saver, even while allowing all the apps to run normally. I also have downloaded a true BLACK wallpaper image. (not very pretty so may not use it...) if I decide to not use the power save that turns it black/white.

Because AMOLED displays can be lit up pixel by pixel, black is ''true'' black because there is no back-lighting. This also means AMOLED displays are easier on your battery because every pixel is not always lit up.

I have my KINDLE APP set to black with white text:

There's other things AMOLED owners can do to maximize their battery life too, like setting as many app themes to be as dark as possible. If you can change the appearance of a bunch of apps you use frequently (or download a different app that does the same thing but that does allow appearance customization), you can save even more battery life. After all, we don't spend all day on our home screens but more time in apps. You can also set your text and email preferences to be black background and white text, depending on your device and chosen apps.

I LOVE the Power Save Mode (can be manually adjusted) and use it for at least part of each day.  At 10:38pm I still have 45% power after running bluetooth, maps and other features today on black/white power save mode!  :clapping: Phone also has an ULTRA power save that basically turns off all functions except phone and texting. (like and emergency mode, stretch that last bit of battery life)
