light years

I recently viewed a galaxy through a telescope. That galaxy was 6 billion light years away. Difficult to comprehend.

I wonder how we can know that that galaxy still existing?
6 billion light years is a long, LONG distance for light to reach the Earth.
As we know, the speed of light is +/- 300,000 Kms x second.    :ss-shocked:

The distance traveled by light in 6 billion years is unimaginable, taking in mind that the distance of one single year, out of 6 billion, would be nine trillion, four hundred sixty billion, eight hundred million Kilometres.

You are right, Tony. That galaxy may no longer exist today. The only way we can know that, is to wait 6 billion years, and look again! Will you join me on that day?  rofl

In 1781 James Watt patented a steam engine that produced continuous rotary motion.

Thank you Mr Watt, that I can enjoy my steam-powered train and boat models.  :clapping:

country

Today, every country has his own Mafia, only that is called in a different way.
"Mafiosi" are criminal organizations based on racquet, extortions, drugs, money laundering, prostitution, etc. In fact, there are many organizations “Mafiose” in Italy, but they are merely criminal organizations, same as those in other countries (some are 'white collars'), but Italians like to call them “Mafiosi” or “Mafia”. ANY criminal association here is called "Mafia", regardless its number of associates or type of crime to which are dedicated.
It is good, because let people of the world to talk about the country, some kind of contorted tourism.    ;)

I think the American dream is somewhat shaky these days....mass shootings, unemployment, media

But America is certainly not alone. Troubles are everywhere. Are you sure you want to be in the future? Maybe the best times have already passed.
