After telling me about the program for months, my brother had me watch an episode from the first season. It was fascinating. You are inside a serial killer's mind...his thoughts, motivations. Yet the whole time, he is being reined in by his father's teachings (he was a cop and KNEW that Dexter would be a serial killer so taught him "right?" from wrong. ...sorta. Seasons 1 - 4 are progression that is logical and growth of the "human" side of Dexter. But the "dark passenger" is more evident at the end of season 4.
Though it deals with killings, it is far less graphic than movies like Saw, Texas Chainsaw massacre and their type!
Each season ramps up as the show progresses, building to .....something that is breathtaking.
I am DEBATING whether I should watch season 5...
DO NOT jump into season 3+ without the earlier episodes. You NEED the progression of the character for fullest effect...
