FileAPP is fabulous.

Both the free and the pro ($5) versions work without any other software if you are willing to use FTP connection on WIFI.
I simply set my FTP program to connect to the IP address ftp://..... shown in the itouch and can drag/drop files like a dream.
And best yet, I can FINALLY see the PDF, TXT and MS office files I want to carry with me on my itouch for free.
The PRO version allows you EDIT the files if you need to do that too.
If you don't want to use FTP software or IE to connect via FTP, you can get the companion program DISKAID
to allow transfers using USB cable. But this one is $9.

Finally spent some time backing up my itouch and applying OS upgrade. (set and forget for over an hour!)
Put in this app and am THRILLED. Highly recommend for anyone with iphone or itouch!
