Mother's machine rebuilt.  :boogie:
Working lovely and got a fresh system disk and compressed copy of the way the system is right now in case we have to go through this again at some point.
Still have to carry machine back to her, install printer and scanner, make sure the PC Anywhere works with her modem.  So another hour/two of work, and 4 hours on the road and the project will be done.
WORTH IT.  She's using my little old laptop (40GB hard drive) and putting a bunch of games on it.  I will have to clean that one when I get it back.
Worked on my own oldy desktop too. 
Taking a break from computers this evening.   ;)  Sorta.  At least I am doing no installs, updates, changes, etc.
I have watched videos about Windows 7.  All the changes to operating system and Office program kinda scary...lots to learn going forward...

Oh yes!  :yes:   I think I have skype on my laptop. (will have to check)  I will not be using the webcam though.  pc to pc is free I think... Long ago I used to use NET MEETING to have long-distrance video chats with a friend. But that ended when one of us got a new machine without that software and we moved to ICQ then Trillian for just plain ol instant messaging.

Curious, if I speak very slowly, I could make it (my brain has time to change routine and send the correct commands to vocalize), but it is impossible to have a conversation that way  :(

LOL.  When I visited Germany a few years ago, it was the first time since I left.  I spoke German the way you describe.  Brain had to slowing translate and send info to mouth...difficult but I got better the longer we were there.
